Fulham are set to host Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this weekend and would want a favorable result to aid their current push for a European finish at the end of the campaign.
The Cottagers will head into the game without one of their star wingers, Reiss Nelson, that has been a great signing for them thus far. In five starts this season for Fulham, Nelson has scored two goals and created two assists for his teammates.

Reiss Nelson has been over the moon since moving to Craven Cottage as playing for Fulham has afforded him the chance to play consistent football, as his career heavily stagnated at Arsenal. However, due to the Premier League loan rules, Nelson will be ineligible for the game and will certainly be conflicted on who he will swear his allegiances for over the weekend.
Three players who wouldn’t have such challenges will be Bernd Leno, Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe that would be spurred on to put up great performances against their former club. Leno usurped Petr Cech as Arsenal’s No. 1 before a bad run of results saw Aaron Ramsdale take over the reins from the German shot stopper. Leno moved to Fulham in 2022 and has been an ever-present between their sticks and is only eight games short of a century of appearances for the club in just two and a half seasons.
Alex Iwobi, on the other hand, was never a regular at Arsenal and moved for a fat sum of money to Everton in 2019. He featured regularly for the Toffees for five seasons before moving to London. His time at Craven Cottage has been good as he has featured consistently, so it’s fair to say that his life after Arsenal has been okay.
Emile Smith Rowe moved to Fulham last summer and has benefitted from first team football, which has seen us catch a glimpse of that great potential we always knew he had.
