Bukayo Saka’s injury in the emphatic 5-1 win over Crystal Palace was very unfortunate, and with his backup, Raheem Sterling, also injured, Mikel Arteta’s team is relatively short of attacking options, which was on show in the narrow victory over Ipswich Town last weekend.
The Gunners go into tomorrow’s game against Brentford without a key player like Saka, and if what we are reading online are actually true, we might not see him in action for close to three months. History also tells us the same thing – Lukas Podolski tore his hamstring while taking one of his thunderbolts of a shot, and was sidelined for three to four months. More recently, Arsenal defender, Kieran Tierney, tore his hamstring on international duty for Scotland in the European Championships in June 2024 and didn’t play for Arsenal till December 2024.
On the interim, Arteta has deputized Gabriel Martinelli on the right, and despite a very good outing against Crystal Palace, the Brazilian winger didn’t see such fortunes against Ipswich, which has forced the club to have a re-think about the long-term solution to the Saka injury-enforced problem.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are working on sourcing a loan deal in the transfer market for Saka’s replacement, and the club will need to look abroad, as they are already restricted in the Premier League following the loan acquisitions of Neto Murara and Sterling. The club has been linked with a move for Barcelona forward, Ferran Torres, and with the Spaniard not getting enough game time, he would jump at the opportunity to return to the Premier League.
