Barclays Asia Tour Squad Announced

Arsenal train

I’m loving the training kit

Sh*t just got real!

Arsene Wenger has announced his squad travelling to the Far East for the Barclays Asia Trophy and I’m pretty sure that the players would want to ‘continue in winning ways’ by bringing another trophy home before competing for yet another preseason trophy – the Emirates Cup and the Community Shield afterwards. These guys would soon get tired of standing in podiums *psyche*

Listed below is a comprehensive list of the team travelling to face Singapore Select XI and the winner between Stoke and Everton

Goalkeepers

  • Petr Cech
  • Emiliano Martinez
  • Wojciech Szczesny

Defenders

  • Hector Bellerin
  • Calum Chambers
  • Mathieu Debuchy
  • Gabriel Paulista
  • Kieran Gibbs
  • Laurent Koscielny
  • Per Mertesacker
  • Nacho Monreal

Midfielders

  • Mikel Arteta
  • Santi Cazorla
  • Francis Coquelin
  • Dan Crowley
  • Mathieu Flamini
  • Mesut Ozil
  • Aaron Ramsey
  • Jeff Reine-Adelaide
  • Jack Wilshere
  • Gedion Zelalem

Forwards

  • Chuba Akpom
  • Olivier Giroud
  • Alex Iwobi
  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
  • Theo Walcott
  • Chris Willock

There were some notable omissions due to injuries or extended breaks. Danny Welbeck and the ageless Tomas Rosicky are staying in England to recover from ‘minor injuries’ they suffered while the likes of Serge Gnabry, Alexis Sanchez and David Ospina are currently on holiday following their international football exertions.

It’s worth noting that this is a very experienced squad but as you’d expect from Wenger, he added a couple of younglings and we would be hoping to see them in action. Jeff Reine-Adelaide recently joined the club from RC Lens and I was hoping that I was going to see Vlad the Impaler Dragomir and Kryztian Bielik but we would have to wait a little more to those lads in action.

Crowley, Zelalem and Akpom are youngsters that are also keen to impress and I’m confident that Wenger would give them a shot to roll with the big boys in the Asia Tour. Bellerin hopes for the tour to be a great experience while Giroud professed his love for the overseas fans.

The game against Singapore comes up next week Wednesday and I’d be hoping DsTV shows the game.

Football is finally back folks. Grab your seatbelts and get ready for the ride.
