According to the players, the reception the players have gotten in Singapore has been great. I went to the site and watched this video of a training session. The fans flooded the stands to watch their heroes do their thing and Petr Cech looked particularly impressive. It’s going to be interesting to see who gets featured today because I’d expect a blend of youth and experience. With half an eye on the final against either Stoke or Everton, Wenger might opt for a relatively inexperienced team with a couple of first teamers completing the list.
In goal, the fans are eagerly anticipating to see what Petr Cech has to offer and I believe he’d start in goal today. In defense, I expect the manager to mix things up by featuring Kieran Gibbs and Matt Debuchy on the fullback positions with Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker playing in the heart of the defense.
In midfield, I would be hopeful to see the new signing captain, Mikel Arteta, play in the holding role with Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil playing further up the pitch. Wenger has high hopes for the Ox this season, so I expect the winger to get a run-out on the left wing with Theo Walcott on the right providing support to Chuba Akpom.
Hey, it’s preseason, you can’t tell you’d feature can ya? Hell, we could even see Dan Crowley or the last Asia Tour class act, Gedion Zelalem in the middle of the park.
I’m sure it’s going to be an enjoyable game of football.
Elsewhere, the Gunners unveiled their away kit in front of a packed crowd and it looked awesome. I’m definitely going to get my hands on some of that golden goodness.
I’m definitely going to the miss the live game because I’m currently at work, so I’d make do with the highlights.
