Thoughts on Zelalem’s Loan Move to Glasgow Rangers

Gedion Zelalem Transfer News: Latest Rumours, Speculation on Arsenal Midfielder

Arsenal’s title odds for the new season will be higher compared to last season but the onus would be on Chelsea to defend their championship successfully. The Blues have started the season poorly by their high standards but with Arsenal winning their game against Crystal Palace, Wenger would be hoping for his squad to hit a good run of form as the campaign progresses.

Anytime the name ‘Gedion Zelalem’ is mentioned, you’d recap his awesome performances in the 2013/14 Asia Tour. Zelalem ran the show against Indonesia XI before turning up the heat against Vietnam and Nagoya Grampus. Many were tipping him for greatness in that campaign but Arsene Wenger handled the situation well, ensuring that the lad kept his head on his shoulders because you know how the media goes on a frenzy when there’s a new kid on the block strutting his stuff. According to the Mirror, the 18-year-old arrived in Glasgow to hold talks with the Rangers hierarchy for a loan move. Apparently, there are also potential loan deals from Fulham, Charlton and Birmingham City, so the lad will have to make a decision on his future.

The lad had hopes of breaking into the team but he has also welcomed the idea of a loan move,

“I’m going to go back for preseason and try to get into the first team and play some games. If I can do that, great. If not, I’ll look to get out on loan somewhere. It’s a dream come true to be at a club like Arsenal and I want to get into the first team this season, play minutes and start matches.”

Wenger is also in support of Zelalem moving to Scotland to continue his football and if he shows some improvement there, he stands a chance of breaking into the team next season. If Zelalem remained at the club this season, his chances of featuring for the first team would be slim to none. He might have been limited to some appearances in the Capital One Cup and at this stage in his career, especially now that he has switched allegiances to the United States under the watchdul eyes of Jurgen Klinsmann, we would need to be featuring consistently.

He’s tipped to have a very bright future at the Emirates, but he has a lot of time on his side.

A loan move to Rangers will be in his best interests.
