Wolves Preview: Keep Up the Momentum

Arsenal 5 - 0 Wolves - Match Report | Arsenal.com

The last time Arsenal played Wolves, it was a dead rubber match at the end of last season that ended in a 5-0 thrashing. It was notably Granit Xhaka’s final game with the club before he departed to join the exciting Xabi Alonso project at Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal and Wolves have had contrasting fortunes this season, but the similarities both sides have faced have been in regard to being on the end of shoddy officiating in their games.

Arsenal come into the game in very good form, smashing RC Lens 6-0 in their last encounter. Wolves will certainly be dreading the prospect of facing that Arsenal. However, the Gunners will need to be weary about the threat Hwang Hee-Chan would pose, as the young Korean has grown to talismanic status following the departures of Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves.

To team news, Arsenal will still be without their current absentees, Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira. Thankfully, there were no new challenges following the RC Lens game, and I would expect Mikel Arteta to stick to the same side that took care of business.

For Wolves, Gary O’ Neil will be reeling from the fact that he will be without his midfield powerhouse, Mario Lemina, and Joao Gomes, while there are still some injury concerns with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Joe Hodge, Nathan Fraser and their most important player, Pedro Neto.
