Quick Roundup of Arsenal Players on International Duty

Zinchenko and Kiwior reach Euros play-off finals | International | News | Arsenal.com

Arsenal had a host of players that missed international duty but a couple still had the opportunity to represent their nations in several qualifiers and friendlies. The action containing Arsenal players started on Thursday when Jakub Kiwior played 90 minutes for Poland in their 5-1 thrashing of Estonia that featured a certain Karl Hein.

Oleksandr Zinchenko continued his comeback from injury in Ukraine’s late win over Sead Kolasinac’s Bosnia. Mykola Matviyenko was left red faced, when he scored an own goal that put Bosnia ahead, but late goals from Roman Yaremchuk and Artem Dovbyk gave Ukraine a chance for a date in the playoffs. Zinchenko played 76 minutes in his encounter.

Jorginho came on as a substitute in Italy’s friendly win over Venezuela. The defensive midfielder replaced Manuel Locatelli (remember him?) and notched up the assist for the match winner, Mateo Retegui. Jorginho has been in a rich vein of form for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta would be hoping he continues the good form in the title run in.

Yesterday’s action was mainly friendlies, as Martin Odegaard played 86 minutes in Norway’s narrow home loss to Czech Republic. Erling Haaland featured in the same game, but it was his Manchester City teammate, Oscar Bobb, that scored the opening goal of the match. David Zima equalized for the Czechs, before Antonin Barak clinched the match winner for the visitors.

David Raya played 45 minutes in Spain’s loss to Colombia, which was a forgettable affair in all honesty.

In today’s games, Leandro Trossard could feature in Belgium’s friendly against the Republic of Ireland, Aaron Ramsdale and Declan Rice are in line to play against a Gabriel-less Brazil. William Saliba is odds on to feature in France’s friendly against Germany, who could have Kai Havertz in their ranks.

Gooner Daily will continue to share updates as they happen, and most importantly, we hope these players remain unscathed.
