Welcome Home, Riccardo Calafiori

I’d keep this short and sweet.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar fought hard to get their man and finally got it over the line. Riccardo Calafiori had to wait for quite a while as he had agreed terms with Arsenal eons ago, but there was the drama of the transfer fee between Arsenal and Bologna, as well as the business Bologna had to do with FC Basel.

Calafiori comes in with some fanfare, following a great campaign with Bologna last season, that saw them qualify for the Champions League this season. Calafiori contributed with two goals, five assists and 15 clean sheets, earning the Player of the Month for May 2024 in the Serie A. His great performances in the League earned him a place in the national team, and he started three of the four games Italy played in the competition.

We are happy to have him in the squad and while I believe he might not be fit enough to play Liverpool in Philadelphia, we will definitely get a glimpse of him at the Emirates Cup.

Welcome home, Calafiori.

Sayonara.
