After a good start to the game, Arsenal lost their lead after going down to 10 men courtesy of a Declan Rice red card.
Here are the Gooner Daily player ratings.
David Raya: Undoubtedly Arsenal’s best player of the match, making quality saves and claims to keep the game at bay. 8
Ben White: Got roasted by Kaoru Mitoma a couple of times, but showed good recoveries. 6
William Saliba: Alongside Gabriel, was culpuble for the goal conceded by being too far apart from his partner. Got better as the game progressed. 6
Gabriel: Was very disappointing in the buildup to the Brighton goal. I’ve seen him play more decisively in the past. 6
Jurrien Timber: Worked hard on the left and had an injury scare that made everyone connected with Arsenal concerned. Thankfully he got up but was still subbed anyway. 6
Thomas Partey: Was sloppy on some occasions and clearly looks off the pace. At this rate, Mikel Merino will walk into the team with consummate ease. 6
Declan Rice: Showed great naivety in allowing the ref’s decision to send him off very easy. Really let his teammates down today. 4
Martin Odegaard: Created an excellent chance for Bukayo Saka early in the game and could have done better with the cross handed to him on a platter by Leandro Trossard. Missed chances like this always come back to haunt you. And they did. 7
Bukayo Saka: Showed great awareness and reactions to nick the ball off Lewis Dunk to fashion an assist for Kai Havertz. Had some good chances to score, made life a living hell for Hinshelwood. 7
Leandro Trossard: After his muted celebrations against Aston Villa, big things were expected from him today and in all honesty, he underwhelmed. 6
Kai Havertz: Scored a well taken goal and worked tirelessly for the team defending from up the pitch. Created an excellent chance for Saka that would have been the match clincher but the Englishman failed to connect well with the ball. 8
Riccardo Calafiori: Made his home debut and defended well despite the numbers disadvantage. 6
Oleksandr Zinchenko: Replaced Timber and add width to the defense but couldn’t really contribute offensively due to the challenging situation of being a man down. 6
Gabriel Martinelli: Used his pace to harry his opponents and contributed on the defensive front. 6
