Like clockwork, the Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 season have been released and at first glance, Arsenal’s first five fixtures are spicy with Mikel Arteta’s playing three away games against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City.
In all honesty, I’m happy we are starting with such harsh fixtures, as our run-in is a bit kinder than how it was last season. The fact that Arsenal went through those fixtures with a 100 percent record was a testament of how the team had improved leaps and bounds under Mikel Arteta.
This season will also see the start of the inaugural Champions League League Phase, where 36 teams will lock horns in eight encounters, with loads of blockbuster fixtures on display, as well as some random clashes. We would go into January 2025 with two outstanding Champions League games, where the top eight are assured of a knockout place, while the ninth place to 24th will feature in playoffs.
I’m looking forward to the new Premier League campaign, but we have the business of the European Championships to attend to.
