Manchester United are poised to complete a significant double announcement on Friday, with both Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow set to put pen to paper.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos successfully completed his medical in Manchester ahead of his move from Chelsea.
Santos is set to sign his contract on Friday morning after both clubs finalised all necessary legal documentation to push the deal over the line.
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth £50 million to secure the 22-year-old, with Chelsea negotiating a 10% sell-on clause as part of the overall agreement.
The Brazilian will sign a long-term contract running until June 2031, with the deal also including an option for a further year beyond that.
Simultaneously, United wrapped up a deal for veteran goalkeeper Karl Darlow, with Romano providing his signature “here we go” confirmation on the transfer.
The 35-year-old former Leeds United shot-stopper arrives on a free transfer and will serve as the primary homegrown understudy to starting goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Darlow’s arrival is expected to facilitate a squad reshuffle, clearing the path for Altay Bayindir to finalise his exit, with Besiktas leading the chase for the departing keeper.
Beyond the double announcement, a third signing is also edging closer, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson currently undergoing medical assessments at the club.
A transfer package worth €44 million has already been fully agreed with the Italian side, and United’s board expects a final verdict on the 26-year-old’s medical to come soon.
Romano revealed: “The verdict on Ederson medical will be this week as revealed with Man United to give final answer soon.”
Should Ederson pass his examinations, he would become Manchester United’s third signing of the summer and further strengthen their midfield options considerably.
The potential arrivals of both Santos and Ederson would represent a major statement of intent from United, who are prioritising energy, physicality, and technical quality in the centre of the pitch.
With Champions League football on the horizon, Carrick’s midfield rebuild is gathering serious momentum as the new season approaches rapidly.
