Arsenal winger returns from international duty for injury assessment

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka suffered a muscular injury against Greece while on national duty

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has returned from international duty due to an injury suffered against Greece. Saka has withdrawn from the squad and won’t be playing against Finland in Helsinki.

The English winger has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad up until now. The Gunners are already sweating on three injuries with Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey all injured.

If Saka’s injury proves to be long-term, this will be a big hit to Arteta and Co. Ødegaard is targeting to return in early November as the Norwegian will miss four more clashes when the international break is over.

Bukayo Saka picked up a muscular injury in England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece. The Englishman was substituted in the 51st minute as he made way for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

Both Saka and Curtis Jones have withdrawn from the squad, reported the official statement. The defeat to Greece in the Nations League was a big shocker for The Three Lions as they’ll try to make a better impression in Helsinki.

There will probably be no updates regarding Saka until Friday when Mikel Arteta will have a pre-match press conference. This will be before the clash against Bournemouth when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Arsenal might prepone buying Semenyo for winter

Bukayo Saka’s place in Mikel Arteta’s squad is undeniable. Having started all the matches for Arsenal this season, the Englishman has an impressive 60% goal participation at the Emirates.

Three goals and seven assists in 10 appearances have helped The Gunners stay undefeated in the Premier League this season. Arteta will hope to continue this form targeting the Premier League title in his sixth season at the Emirates.

If Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for long then the Spanish manager might prepone a few transfer plans. As reported earlier, Arsenal will be targeting AFC Bournemouth duo Antoine Semenyo and Milos Kerkez in the summer 2025 window.

Ghanian international Semenyo is expected to back up Bukayo Saka at the Emirates next season. With both players showing much potential at the Vitality Stadium, many clubs will envy their services for next season.

However, Arsenal might make a move this winter if Saka’s injury ends up being serious. The fans will be awaiting Friday’s press conference for an update on the Englishman.

If bad news strikes, Mikel Arteta will already have a plan in place for replacements. At this moment, nothing seems certain but Bournemouth will have to look out for their coveted winger if Saka ends up serious.
