Arsenal Given Major Transfer Setback

Arsenal has been heavily linked with some forwards in the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta’s men hoping to add some much-needed firepower to the attack to sustain the Premier League title challenge.

Juventus’ clinical forward, Dusan Vlahovic, has been touted as one of the targets and some media outlets have reported that Arsenal is keen on making a sensational bid for Alexander Isak, but there’s a forward that is cheaper than Vlahovic and Isak, and equally as lethal.

Enter Viktor Gyokeres – one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe. In 41 appearances for Sporting CP, Gyokeres has scored an amazing 40 goals, and he has been on absolute fire this season, scoring 21 goals in 19 games in all competitions. Arsenal are one of the forerunners for Gyokeres’ signature this winter, but there has been a major setback on that potential move.

Gyokeres is set to join Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

Following the unceremonious departure of Erik ten Hag from Manchester United after two-and-a-half-years, the English juggernauts have identified Sporting CP’s gaffer, Ruben Amorim, as his potential replacement. Amorim bought Gyokeres from Coventry City and he had an amazing first season with Sporting, scoring 29 goals in 33 games, which also delivered the Portuguese League title.

Gyokeres attributed working with Amorim to improving his fortunes, and they have forged a great relationship together. With Amorim joining Manchester United, Gyokeres is odds on to join him for 50 million pounds, which will be a major setback for Arsenal. The Swedish forward’s insane scoring record has made him a top target for many clubs in the world, and Manchester United is certainly capable to catering to his needs financially, but the x-factor remains his bond with Amorim, which gives Manchester United the edge ahead of other clubs.
